comment Why does the pilot light go out when the furnace is running?
restriction of gas flow causing the pilot to go out when the main burner takes all the gas??

comment Why is it taking so long for my house to heat up?
As mentioned a second professional option would be best due to the complex number of problems that could be causing it. Having said that from your description the first thing I'd be doing if I came to your house is re-bleeding the whole system.

comment How can I convert a propane fireplace to natural gas?
Yes you are correct all you should need to do is new size injectors and install a reg to suit the appliance/pressure. Having said that I'm not up to date on flueless gas wood heaters as they are illegal in Aus

comment Why is there an opening where the burner connects to the gas line on a gas oven?

It is called primary air mixture, the gas is injected from the port and draws air alon with it as primary gas air mixture secondary air is used at the burner head

comment What should I look for when shopping for a kitchen faucet water filter?
As Vebjorn mentioned depends what your trying to get out, but as far as minor impurities such as metals and dirt etc with a large flow rate I'd go the whole house filter eg a dual pod 20" cartage setup with sediment and carbon filters. But if its Bacteria etc definatly check ur water at a lab

comment Is this shower trap better than a P-Trap?
@staticsan Yes it is mandatory in bathrooms and laundry's in AU, unless the floor slopes directly to an external door (fairly uncommon in a bathroom) but a dry floor waste can also be used, although it is an outdated way of doing things. But our floor drain are different to the one shown here as this looks like it could cause some serious blockages over time, ours have a minimum one size larger outlet than the largest inlet and goes on water load, also they are just an over sized s/p-trap

comment What factors need to be considered to get the most powerful shower possible?
@Jez Most important no, as all the factors have a part to play the reason for me saying not to concern yourself with that one is that it is factored into the pipe sizing to prevent noise problems with high water velocity, water velocity is the time taken from point a - b, pressure is the force of the water, flow is the amount of water that can be supplied per measurement of time. So you could have high pressure low flow which would be massaging but wouldn't get you very wet both flow and pressure need to be taken into account.

Au is the same supposed to be 9L/m for showers which is rubbish.

Then yes you can use a pump but it sounds like it is illegal from what you say, but it is done and works.

what pressure do you classify as 'high pressure"?, .. Because water velocity is generally within a the scope of the mains unless your attaching some serious hardware to the system(eg designing a muti story building with booster pumps and reservoir tanks) if you want to get into water velocity en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darcy-Weisbach_equation, but you don't really need to go there it's done for you, you have the flow rate and the pressure

comment Will low water use toilets clog more?
We commonly use 1.23GPF/0.8GPF(4.5L/3L) dual flush toilets which have adjustable outlet valves for using on retro fit toilet pans. The only problem I've come across is using a new low water cistern on a old toilet pan as the design of the waste flow is diffrent in new toilets to allow for the low water usage.
