How can I remove large nails from cement? get a Dremel rotary tool (or something similar) with some grinding discs and just cut them off. It's probably cheaper than a dedicated grinder |

How do I install a bathroom wall light? You think that sounds like more pain than tearing up the walls to run new electrical? |

How do I shut off the ceiling fan without a pull chain? Replacing a fan is usually fairly easy, and not too expensive. That might be as easy as replacing the switch. |

home building - the complete manual consider volunteering with your local Habitat for Humanity chapter to get some hands on experience in homebuilding. They also have a great book - amazon.com/Habitat-Humanity-Build-Revised-Updated/dp/1561589675 - that gives an overview of the construction process |

How do I clean ballpoint pen marks from an LED TV screen? my daughter drew on our tv with crayon, I used one of those Magic Eraser thingies to clean it off - worked great, didn't seem to harm the TV any. www.mrclean.com/MagicEraser - I think we buy the generic kind |

How can I get low water pressure in sprinkler system fixed? That sounds like a pretty bad (or lazy) plumber. You might try calling a sprinkler company and getting an estimate for fixing it, and then giving that to your builder. It doesn't seem like the people he sends out are very qualified. |

How can I get low water pressure in sprinkler system fixed? also, do you have a master valve for the sprinklers? Have you verified that it's fully open? |

How can I get low water pressure in sprinkler system fixed? Did they check that the pressure going into the sprinkler system was OK? If it is, then my guess would be either a leak, or there is dirt/debris caught in the lines somewhere. Does it impact all zones equally, or just some of them? They probably need to start digging up the lines and test them, or just replace them. |

Should we turn our oil hot water heater off every night? I would think it takes a lot more energy to heat the cold tank every day than it does to maintain the temperature after it's heated. Plus you would wake up every day with no hot water. |

Is a roofing company responsible for fixing a leak and water damage 2 1/2 years after roof replacement? send them a certified letter, politely asking them to contact you to discuss this issue. Document the problem with photos, drawings, etc. Let them know that if you do not hear from them by x date, you will contact your attorney. |

How do I “un-winterize” my sprinkler system? my guess would be the 4 smaller ports on the manifold were left open to allow water to escape in case of a freeze. Not sure what their primary purpose is. I'd close them, then open the two blue valves. |

When to stop putting out mouse traps? if they are hoarding dog food, clearly peanut butter isn't their only source of food. I'd set traps until you go a few days without catching anything, then stop, but ask the dog to tell you if anyone is mooching his food :-) |

How do I make a weight sensitive platform? generally speaking, cats are much better climbers/jumpers. Why not just build something that is too tall for the dogs to climb over, but that allows the cats to easily jump? You could also try building a barrier and cutting a hole in it, so the cats can pass through but the dogs can't. We did something similar when our babies were small to keep them out of the cat food. |

Interior Design Degree Question Having one BA does not preclude you from getting another. She should contact schools offering ID degrees and see about their requirements. Or try working/interning at a ID firm. My gut feeling is that many people who do ID for a living don't actually have ID degrees. |

How do you know when you need a new water heater? also, factor in location when considering the DIY approach. In my old house it was located at ground level in the garage - easy. My current house it's in the attic above the 2nd story - very difficult to get to. |

How to deal with Mice coming into the Baby's Room Keep in mind that an infant won't be crawling around on the floor for many months. Not to say you shouldn't be cautious about putting poison out near a baby, but be realistic about his/her (in)ability to get into anything for at least 3-6 months. Or, get a cat. |
