What's that dripping sound I hear in the attic whenever we turn on the water? I am planning to head up into the attic sometime this week to take a look. Your explanation sounds plausible because we don't hear the noise after we turn off the water and turn it back on a few minutes later. The "cooldown" period I mentioned must literally be the period during which the temperature of the pipe goes back to normal and contracts. Is this constant expansion/contraction normal? Any recommendations on how to stop the sound or ensure that the pipe(s) won't expand/contract themselves to death prematurely? |

What can I do about my lawn growing unevenly/patchy? Yes, we do, but he typically goes around the fenceline and saves some for his walks. Our dead/dying patches are more towards the center. |

What can I do about my lawn growing unevenly/patchy? I am in South Florida and have St. Augustine grass as well. I haven't used any kind of fertilizer/products. It's not summer, but temps have been between 70 and 80 throughout the day and there has not been much rain lately - so maybe cinch bugs are the culprits? What could I use to blast them? |

Are cracks on exterior walls serious and can I fix them myself? I posted pictures - do you have any information you can add? |

Are cracks on exterior walls serious and can I fix them myself? @Niall C.: The cracks are on the outside (exterior wall). The inside has drywall so I can't see what it looks like on the other side. |

How to self-remediate mold? Thanks. As an added precaution we left the windows open for a few days with fans running and we also blasted the room with Lysol (said on the can it killed several types of molds). |

How do I install a jump duct? Bedroom is on the same level as the rest of the rooms. I don't understand the second part of your response... could you elaborate? We're actually in Florida and do not have a furnace... our concern is 100% cooling - don't care about heating at all. |

How to self-remediate mold? The drywall was relatively new, there was no insulation in the walls, and we normally keep the thermostat at ~80 degrees in there because we're not using that room yet. That coupled with the walls being soaked for a few hours might answer it. What we're wondering now is what steps, besides removing the drywall and ventilating the room, can we take to eliminate the mold before rebuilding? |
