comment How should I level (flatten) ceiling joists for drywall?
Cool technique. Thanks. We decided to use string measured to the floor to find the low point. Found that the joists were out of level by up to two inches. Would have been a lit of shimming. For this reason and to avoid some electrical wires running through the joists we ran 2x4s along the lenths of the joists to reach the low line (string to the rescue again). Thanks again.

Thanks for the advice. I didn't see any wall mount fans at Home Depot so I wasn't sure if they're really rare and expensive. Sounds like they're not. The one I got was $100 so good quality but I'll probably return it and get a wall mount. Thanks again!

Thanks, Eric. Do you just use nails to fasten? How many and how do you prevent the 2x2's from twisting?

Good suggestions. The plates are not installed so 2x2 is an option. Thanks.

Correct. Over a brick wall just to add a thin layer of insulation and hang some cabinets. Must be careful to secure cabinets with more screws than normal since they won't be as long.
