Yea, we're happy. One other relevant thing to point out is that our patio is really a patio plus parking pad. In other words, we park our car on the same bricks and they still hold up.

Thanks. Wouldn't the drilling be through the depth of the door (1.5" or so) not through the height (80")? Would a plunge router work in place of a drill to make the dowel holes?

I was mostly curious to hear if there were any advantages to oil at all. The discussion came up over the durability of oil vs latex on wood trim. One person argued oil was more durable for this application, in their experience. Another argued in his experience that was no longer true.
