I have been programming for over 20 years in various languages including C, C++, java, C#, assembler and basic. I even did some Fortran back on my first job. I currently develop in C++ and C# for Windows and ASP.NET for web. I also do web development in PHP and MySql.

After looking closer it is a Kwikset (the deadbolt in the door is Schalge so I assumed the lower handset was the same brand). I was able to get it off by using a hammer and screwdriver to rotate the plate farther. (If it doesn't work, hit it harder).
