What should the ratio of crushed rock and sand for a paver patio be? Did you put anything under the crushed rock for future weed control? Something like a plastic lining or as I read somewhere, a layer of tar paper that is used for under shingles on a roof? It just so happens I have the majority of a roll left of the tar paper from building my shed last year and figured it might be a good way to use some of it. |

Why should I not use standard “house” bricks for a patio? Craig's lits is king for the DIY type. Found bricks (new ones) for $.25 each. White, brown, and a couple other colors. Going to be laying them in the same pattern as you too. Just trying to get a feel for anyone in freezing areas if they have had good luck. Sounds like you have. |
