comment What should we look for when buying a fixer-upper house?
Big point here on finding a house that is outdated. Normally it is a very livable house but needing some help to modernize it. Kitchens are outdated fast and can cost lots to do but you can visit the factories "seconds" type shops where cabinets are cheap but slightly imperfect.

comment How do I remove a stuck faucet/tap cover?
WD-40 is not a penetrating oil. So YMMV when using it in this type of situation.

It's hard work, but yanking them is often the better way to go.

I don't think you can preen your lawn can you? The OP didn't say it was his lawn so I'm just guessing.

comment What is the easiest way to remove a large root in a post hole I'm digging?
Ahhh. I was able to turn an 8 foot and a 5 foot section into two nearly 7 foot sections. Thus avoiding my root problem.

Thanks again for the perfect answer to such a subjective question. The tip proved to be the perfect solution.

comment How much compaction should I get from crushed rock?
The compation for this ended up being much more than I'd hoped. The 4yds ended up not being sufficient for a 4" layer for ~324sqft despite being told it would be by the landscape company. But the compaction ended up being around an inch or so. But is now looks and feels as tight as cement.
