How do I replace a garage door spring? We did have a pro do the replacement (easily, affordably). Funny story: He has two young, active boys and occasionally ends up in the emergency room with one of them or the other for typical little-boy stuff. He says that literally every time he is in the ER, there's someone there who injured themselves replacing a garage door spring. |

How do I replace a garage door spring? There's a 1/8" steel cable running through the inside of the intact spring on the other side; I assume that's there to limit the damage that might be done should the spring break while under tension. |

How do I replace a garage door spring? BMitch, there is an opener, and I was pretty sure that the release handle was pulled before I tried to lift the door. Are you suggesting that the door isn't all that heavy and I should be able to get it up anyway? It is possible that I missed something. |
