Which wall should I install a replacement thermostat on? I've got a Nest and I'll explain how it's poorly placed for our house. Maybe it can provide some guidance on how to proceed... It's right next to the kitchen in our dining room, so there's a lot of heat from the kitchen that affects how well the thermostat performs. If we roast some delicious animal on a cold day, the heat from the kitchen prevents the nest from heating the rest of the house. This prevents the bedrooms from warming up enough to be comfortable in the evening. It's on my list to move our Nest further from the kitchen to help with this. |

Who is the right professional to call for drainage issues? Would someone who does architectural landscape design be capable of determining if there's any issues under the concrete in the garage causing it to crack? (I'll readily admit I've got an irrational fear of a sinkhole swallowing our driveway and garage. :) |

How can I remove this sliding door? Does the amount of clearance change if the door is slid fully open or nearly closed? Our sliding windows have more clearance for removing them when they're fully opened, but don't lift up much at all when they're nearly closed. It seems like there's a pocket of space at the open side to allow for easier removal, and less space when they're closed to prevent miscreants simply lifting the windows out. I would guess that sliding doors might have a similar way of working. |
