How to repair botched, colored concrete? Thanks for the follow up. It'll be a couple of weeks before I can attempt to re-finish. I'll post a follow up when I do. |

How to repair botched, colored concrete? We'd prefer to avoid additional height. Given that, would you (or others) know of what type of topping we could use? (fwiw: The slab was reinforced; forget if it was mesh or rebar, though) |

Is cleaning out the main sewer line a regular scheduled maintenance item? @Steven - if I could upvote your comment 100x's I would! |

Is cleaning out the main sewer line a regular scheduled maintenance item? @Steven - Verify if your policy covers the sewer line between the house and the city connection; insurance will cover a backup inside the house, but not the root cause of the problem in the sewer line if it's outside the home. I'd suspect that the insurance as well as the city will not cover the sewer line in your yard. The point is, there is most likely a section of sewer line that is not covered by any of the entities. |

Is cleaning out the main sewer line a regular scheduled maintenance item? @SchwartzE - Thanks for the tip. We're going to be re-evaluating our home owner's insurance and will definitely check out the rider. |

Ethernet cable instead of Thermostat wire? @Tester101 - the wiring is plenum rated. Does that matter? |

Ethernet cable instead of Thermostat wire? Your concerns are noted. The Ethernet has been wired up and working like a charm. There's not much heat to worry about since all the wiring is in an open attic and the furnace sits in the garage which is always cold. Also, I spliced into the existing t-stat line near the furnace and just tied into there so the Ethernet isn't even in the furnace. |
