comment Which should be first, pressure reducer or backflow preventer?
@Scivitri-I believe their sole purpose is to relieve the pressure in a hot water tank, although I do not know if they are also used on tankless for some reason I may not be aware of.

comment The main water valve won't open fully after I closed it. How do I shut off the water to replace it?
WARNING! The Electrical breaker panel ground bus is connected to the water main. If the electrical ground wire is connected on the house side of the valve, then when you replace the main shut off valve you will be breaking this return path. This can give you a very nasty (lethal?) shock when you touch the pipes! You can either "jump" the two sections of pipe with a heavy wire (8-6AWG should be do it), or turn off the Breaker panel's Main breaker (leaving you in the dark), or move this ground wire to the street side of the valve (prefered methode - turn off main breaker panel first!).

comment Should a post in a circular concrete form go through the bottom?
@Shirlock- Good call! A lot of people do not do the "mushroom" step. Which helps to keep the post sturdy, plumb and keeps water from wicking up the post.

comment What could cause bubbling toilet when the shower or sink is running?
I agree. Have the waste pipe vent checked out. A bird may have made a nest in your vent pipe on the roof.

comment Any reason not to ground the sheathing of MX wire?
-1 Advising not to ground a BX cable is not a responsible answer! NEVER, EVER is it okay to leave a BX cable sheathing ungrounded! If that cable sheathing ever becomes energized, and is touching ductwork, plumbing, gas pipes, etc. as you say, a grounded system will trip the circuit breaker and protect the homeowner. That is how the system is designed to protect. If you left it ungrounded anything touching the cable will become live! Possibly going unnoticed until a victim comes along! The Romex gets bonded to the metal box with a bonding screw, the BX cable is bonded through the box connector.

comment Water heater builds up excessive pressure only when reheating the tank. What's going on?
Get a bigger expansion tank if possible. The one my builder installed failed in the third year, also at my neighbors'.
