comment What's a good cheap sander to sand the ends of wooden blinds?
Have you considered just renting or borrowing a belt sander?

comment How can I audit my furnace?
I'd imagine you could also wire in a kill-a-watt type device between the furnace and its electrical feed as well.

comment How can I verify where the pipes in my basement go?
Is there a sump pump in the basement? The lines going into the ground could just be for grey water into the sump pit.

comment How can I strengthen attic rafters for storage?
How far are the 2x4's spanning? Also, are they just regular rafters, or are they part of an engineered truss?

comment How do I build a deck that is easy to take apart?
@Jay - no, never seen it done for real. I think this is a pretty unique use case though. Not often someone would have a reason to build a "portable deck".

comment Should I shovel snow off my vinyl deck?
Easy to say when you don't often get 6-10" of snow in single day :)

comment How do I frame a 2“ (1.5”) thick wall?
@jlpp - I just use screws, and usually I pre-drill first. Using a framing nailer will likely split the 2x2. As for preventing them from twisting, I assume you mean once they are installed (since you only have room for one screw really) I don't worry about it. Once you put drywall over them, they aren't going anywhere.

comment Why does my furnace need frequent power resets?
@chris - Could be an O2 sensor or some such thing as well if it's detecting that there isn't enough oxygen for complete combustion of the gas.

comment How do I wrap pipe threads with teflon tape?
@Tester101 - Not sure, can't say I've ever tried to use it with PVC or plastic fittings.
