comment How can I determine why my A/C runs all day?
Another thing on the condenser is that fins and kids don't mix. If the fins are all mashes together that could affect cooling also. If that is the problems then take a wire brush and lightly brush the fins till they seperate.

comment What is the labeling scheme on these outlets?
Panel names, I'm not sure about. They were given before the hotel was built but would make sense if you had the plans, looking at the main feeds and locations. I don't think the labels are code, just a smart hotel engineer.

comment Can a yurt be a dwelling?
@DA01 - Pacific Yurts says it is classified as a tent. You nailed that on the head! Too bad Jay can't find a TARDIS yurt.

comment How can I install a wired smoke detector without compromising the fire rated sheetrock?
@Bryce - you can always do it this way, fir caulk around the connector coming out of the ceiling, use duct seal to seal the conduit after the wire is through and go straight into a surface mount box, like a Wiremold box. Then you can fire caulk around the box and even the detector if you wish. Note - Duct seal is not fireprooof.

All I know is that UL sets the fire rating, and it would be very stupid to give it a fire rating and then void the UL if a wire is pulled through it. As ling as the box is used in the intention it was designed for, then the rating is safe. If your garage has a light in the ceiling it has been done the same way. If you want to use a fire caulk or putty on the OUTSIDE of the box to make you feel better and safer, then go ahead do it. Use a cut in box and put the fire caulk or putty on it after the wire is in the box and before you put it in the ceiling. Sort of like the picture I used.

When I had mine, I had a window company build me a window that fit in above the A/C. A couple of 2 inch wide aluminum strips and silicon complete the job. At the time (over 20 years ago) it cost me around $75.00.

Are you going to use the regular (15 amp duplex plugs like most things are designed for your home) receptacles or are you going to use the L14-30R plug that comes on some generators?

On plastic boxes it is normally stamped on the inside of the box. Metal boxes as far as I know will be on the specification sheets. I'll see if I can add a picture tonight when I get home.

comment Are there any other reasons to use 130 volt halogen light bulbs instead of 120 volt bulbs?
130V bulbs can be 'rough service bulbs' but most 130V bulbs are not rough service. 'Rough service bulbs' have beefier filaments and more filament supports than regular bulbs, even 130V. While most of the most recognized names in bulbs get more life from 130V, cheap imports offer nothing, except for longer life from their own 120V and rarely what the life of a bulb is. @Steven is correct on 130V lamps and on voltage fluctuations, as long as it is a quality lamp from a quality company. Remember quality companies still put junk out too.

comment Circuit breaker trips every couple of weeks
@SteveR There is a 20% rule you need to take off to follow code, but nobody told the breaker. The breaker is set to trip at 15 amps or 1800 watts. You are correct and OP should sort his circuit to follow this rule once he figures out what he has.

comment Does the Lutron Maestro C.L Dimmer Exist?
@sherlock homes I did factory training in 89 & 04. I thought the first trip was great but the second blew me away. They are a great company. Now they are concentrating on energy savings more than just summing.
