comment Should I be worried if I missed the studs while mounting my TV?
Since you've taken the time to ask here, you'll end up kicking yourself if you do not now remount the tv.

Thank you for the note on weight, I plan to put down a thin piece of wood to help distribute the weight a bit, and to make sure none of the boxes pile directly on top of the ceiling.

Do you simply pile them up on top of the rafters, or do you have any sort of mechanism to keep them on edge?

comment Do I need a box-spring for my bed?
From Going to the Mattresses: "Many Europeans use platform beds without box springs. Do you hear them complaining?"

comment What does blocking refer to in relation to floor joists?
Thank you for investing so much. Understood about the possibility (probability?) of twisting in the future, just confirming my understanding of the configuration so that I can extrapolate consequences. Basically determining if we should run screaming, or simply request that the seller fix it via a licensed contractor.

comment What does blocking refer to in relation to floor joists?
The house has stood for twelve years with no signs of twisting: loose, squeaky, or warped flooring; off center or damaged joists; cracked drywall, etc. Assuming that there has been no twisting already corrected, then most likely the steel support beam would not be adversely effected, as there is no extra weight pushing down on it, nor is it being pushed off center due to apparent twisting of the joists?

So essentially my understanding is correct in that the blocking is in relation to the floor joists themselves and has little to nothing to do with the steel support beam under the joists?

@Tester101 in process. I am hoping to verify my own understanding of blocking and its importance, however, as I may be installing it or adding it to my list of items to eyeball, should I need to look at additional houses.

Can you replace the pipe with a steel one? chimney-liner-central.com/rigid_chimney_liner.html
