Easiest way to cut, shave, or chisel bottom 8" of posts to fit footings I bought a dado blade set awhile back, but our table saw ended up being too small to fit more than two blades and the posts are huge. Thanks for the suggestions. |

Easiest way to cut, shave, or chisel bottom 8" of posts to fit footings I had not heard of a power planer, but it sounds like a handy tool, I'll check them out. |

Easiest way to cut, shave, or chisel bottom 8" of posts to fit footings I like this answer because it involves a tool I already have, and the posts are a little big to put on our small table saw. Thanks. |

Easiest way to cut, shave, or chisel bottom 8" of posts to fit footings In this case, although they may be deck brackets (the ones I bought did not say 'deck'), we are putting a gazebo in our backyard on top of cement with anchor bolts. Some people say these brackets are great for this, others don't, so I guess we'll see how it goes. |

Can I install 6' 6x6 fence posts onto a cement driveway? A guy at work also said not to try using one of those big cutters. I guess we'll need to hire someone with a cutter. I didn't mention this fence may later become an arbor, by adding on to it, so we will need 6x6's for that I think. |

Can I install 6' 6x6 fence posts onto a cement driveway? We probably could get away with 4x4. Maybe I'll reconsider whether I need 6x6's or not. Thanks. |

Can I install 6' 6x6 fence posts onto a cement driveway? I'll definitely NOT use those brackets. Ideally I'd like to form the footing in such a way that the post can slide out. The fence might get hit by a car where it's located. |

Can I install 6' 6x6 fence posts onto a cement driveway? Thanks for the design suggestions. I really would prefer not to mount the posts into the cement in the event the fence needs to be moved or replaced (like gets hit by car). We may need to add more posts and get a better bracket as you suggest. |
