What are my options for venting my oil boiler? Im not an hvac expert but there is a new thing called direct vent. It uses a blower to cool the exhaust enough that it can vent through 3" PVC pipe right out the side of the house. Some might use a metal vent similar to a pellet stove or gas fireplace. I dont know if your unit can be converted but the cost of a new masonry chimney would be more than a new boiler with direct vent. A double walled Pipe might be similar in price but they look bad on the side of a house. |

How to mount hooks into concrete ceiling that must be able to support several times bodyweight? after it is attached you will have to drill more holes through the side of the angle iron for your equipment or use 1/2 lags through the bottom of the 4x4. |

How to mount hooks into concrete ceiling that must be able to support several times bodyweight? I hate trying lining to measure and line up holes. A good tip is to just drill one hole in the concrete lining up to one of the middle holes of the 4x4 or angle iron. One bolt will hold it in place then drill the concrete through the 16" oc holes. |

How to mount hooks into concrete ceiling that must be able to support several times bodyweight? You will have to drill all your own holes 16" O.C. You will then need to predrill matching holes in your ceiling with a Hammer drill. Your holes would be 3/8 or 1/2 inches depending on what size redhead wedge anchor you got. Hold the angle iron or 4x4 in place lining up the holes and hammer the wedge anchor in. after its in all the way tighten the bolt with a socket. Since the bolts will be upside down it would be a good idea to use 2 bolts or lock washer to make sure they do not loosen over time. |

How do I use three-prong appliances when my outlets are mostly two-prong? I live in PA and almost every town around me requires a CO when buying a house. I dont agree with it but they do it and its a pain. They check for handrails, level sidewalk, 100 amp service, lights over exterior doors, exposed wires, chipping paint, smoke detectors. ect. I dont know what the consequence is for not getting one or not fixing all the problems. I never heard of anyone getting evicted because they dont have a clear CO. The buyer sees the list of things wrong though and they want it fixed or money back to fix it. Im not confusing this for a Home inspection. |
