How to rescue exterior door paint job? Oh, I understand you don't need to take off multiple layers. I'm just saying that this will do the trick. To be honest, this didn't really take all that much time and I think you'll be happier with the results if you just take off the paint. I would also look at the manual for the door and see if it wants to be primed first.
