comment Does water in the water heater drip pan mean my heater is bad?
@Zevkat After you take a shower (or other high demand activity), if you open a hot water tap, do you notice a surge of water before it settles back to a normal flow? Does the discharge tube for the T&P valve drain into the pan, or a drain?

@SomeGuy In cold climates, it's common for the meter to be in the building's basement, to protect it from freezing. It's also possible that the installation predates the requirement for a check valve, and it has not yet been updated to include one.

It won't have a handle on it like a normal valve, or will be a small fitting near the meter with an arrow on it pointing in the direction of flow.

Is there a check valve on the main water supply?

Do you have an expansion tank (small metal bottle attached to the plumbing near the heater)? What is the temperature setting on the heater?

comment Why are my stove's burners releasing gas and sparking but not igniting?
If it happens only when the oven is on, it could be that the supply pressure is low, the supply tubing is undersized, or there's a restriction on the supply tubing. If you're getting lightheaded waiting for the burners to ignite, you might consider opening some windows or tuning on an exhaust fan.

comment How do I replace a 3-way switch on 2-wire cable with a programmable timer switch?
Even with a 3-way, I'm slightly concerned with the lack of grounded (neutral) conductor.

Could be a bad fuel air mixture, do you have enough oxygen in your house? Do you feel lightheaded, dizzy, nauseous, or disoriented?

In the last photo where you have the timer "working", it appears that you have the grounded (neutral) from the timer connected to the ungrounded (hot) conductor from the circuit. Trial-and-error wiring is almost never a good idea. If you don't understand the basic concepts of wiring, and/or can't follow simple wiring diagrams, you should probably not be doing this type of work yourself.

What does the wiring at the other switch look like?

The shelf is supported by brackets like this, does that change the answer? Also all the 2×4s are connected together using hot glue.
