comment Bowed laminate flooring on slab: How to proceed?
Since I did not install it, I am not sure if there is a moisture barrier. The only other water damage is some rotting window trim on the exterior of the window in the room (the window is original to the house, and we are in the process of replacing it). The drywall in the room appears to be completely dry. There is no apparent water damage at all anywhere in the interior of the house. The humidity in the room seems relatively low.

comment Covered or Locking Light Switch?
@auujay: That's what I thought too, however, all of the compatible toggle switches I've found are only rated to about 4 amps.

comment How to clean kitchen cabinets?
I ended up using a combination of Dawn and Parker & Bailey Cabinet Cream, which did the job. Thanks!

comment Replacing gas oven with electric
To expand on @DA01's comment, most residential gas ovens have less sensitive regulators than residential electric ovens; the on-and-off gas cycling can cause temperature swings of +/- 25°F. Also, if you are looking to get a convection oven, keep in mind that electric convection ovens usually have an element right behind the fan, whereas gas convection ovens usually have the burners at the bottom, away from the fan. I am not sure if that makes a huge difference, but I've heard that the fan element also accounts for more even cooking, which is especially important when baking.
