comment How can I replace patio cover columns?
Some use a can-do attitude, a pile of chocking material and an apparent disregard for personal safety :-) youtube.com/watch?v=g_0vRaDJXn4

comment What is the standard 120v light bulb screw base in the US?
@kreemoweet: I'd guess E26 is 1" and E27 is 1 1/16". "The metric system is the tool of the devil! My car gets forty rods to the hogshead and that's the way I likes it." - Thomas Edison :-).

In the UK, they (E27, E14) are often just called ES (Edison Screw) or SES (Small Edison Screw) - in contrast to BC (Bayonet Cap) and SBC (Small Bayonet Cap).

comment How does a boiler pump circulate water?
@ktm5124: I've never taken one apart to see what it looks like. Those things run for decades without breaking down. I imagine they don't rely on flexible impellers that might wear out sooner. See youtube.com/watch?v=ECLQr3Z1pFk at 4:00 for what I imagine is more typical.

I'd poke about with a suitably rated multimeter.

comment Desk Material that doesn't get sun bleached
Is this a duplicate of diy.stackexchange.com/q/61067/2815 ? - I hear solid gold desktops are immune to bleaching, corrosion, woodworm and sebum.
