comment Can I install a sub-panel with no ground to the main panel?
Making up for the lack of a ground usually involves GFCIs as far as I can tell.

comment PVC Water line keeps getting pin holes
Markings on the pipe should help identify what it is made of, that might be useful information to add to your question.

comment How to make a toilet seat hinge more stiff?
You can also buy a "soft-close toilet seat" at DIY stores (e.g. B&Q) in the UK - where the OP is located. I had the same problem and fixed it this way.

comment Are these doors installed correctly, and are they secure as they are?
In my part of the world you can ask the police to come and provide free advice on home security. I'd ask them if they consider the door adequately secure. But really you should check what, if anything, you have as a written agreement concerning the work and tell the contractor to remove the door as "unfit for purpose" and replace it with one to your satisfaction. Take photos and investigate small-claims court procedures in your area. I assume you already tried to resolve this amicably without success.

comment Can I use a jigsaw to cut fence rails?
Buy both, if you only buy one buy a circular saw. Jigsaws are best for cutting curves in sheet, even with a guide or fence my experience with a cheap jigsaw is it won't cut straight.

comment My florescent lights need a shake or a hit to work
@Jasper: Certainly, fittings with starters were being installed in the 2000s but I imagine they'd be hard to obtain now. I suspect Wolf is referring to the decade when these fittings started to be used, just as Wolf might say the engine in Wolf's car "is a throwback to the 1860s" ;-).

comment UK Land Registry plan confusion
The gray area is probably described and explained in the deeds. It may be something to do with underground services to that rectangular building adjacent to *arland avenue. It looks like the road might be unadopted - in which case the local council isn't responsible for maintaining it.
