@Stefan We travelling Americans have been dealing with that for years! You can use a "travel" step-down transformer to move the 220V to 110V like this one available from Amazon.com. It can handle up to 200 watts which should be good enough to handle the 12VDC adapter it comes with. The adapter may even be able to handle 220V with just a plug adapter - you would have to read the specifications on the adapter to be sure, though.

@Brad we used water to wet down popcorn we had to remove for some ceiling drywall repair - it pretty much just peels off. I used a scraper and held a bucket underneath to catch the popcorn. Your arms will be tired, though.

Excellent, well-articulated answer! I'll have to come back to this if we ever buy a house with a basement.

Oh wow. Well, I'm planning on crawling into the attic tomorrow morning before it gets hot, so I'll have pictures and a report back.

comment How do I get utility lines marked on my property?
Yup - in any state in the US, just dial 811 on your phone, they'll take your information and contact all of the companies that might have utilities in your area. It usually takes a few days for all of the utilities to come out and check, so be sure to leave yourself enough time.

comment How do I safely and cleanly remove sealant from a plastic bath?
It works pretty well - I have that very kit. The scraper will get most everything, and the smoother makes some nice-looking lines when you smooth your bead out.

Oh, how do I hate thee, silicone caulk... let me count the ways... I've been able to remove 90% of it the old-fashioned way - sitting in the tub with a plastic caulk remover, scraping, scraping, scraping...

I'll have to go up there and take a closer look at space between the furnace and the box. You know, when it's not so hot up there!

So to replace the filter, do you take off all the tape and then take the filter out?
