Raised by a carpenter with a physics degree, I claim lots of booklearnin' but only the usual "amateur" experience level. Take my advice with the same grain of salt you'd take any random voice on the internet!
My statements on these websites are not official statements from any employer of mine.

How do I hang a chair from a concrete ceiling from a single hook? 2x margin seems low. People tend to hang/swing on stuff way to much. Also what is behind the concrete? I.e is it a poured ceiling, is there structure in there, a beam, etc? |

Help reinstalling an external door threshold Yeah, that'd've worked. I ended up using vice grips...turns out they were square-cut nails(!) anyway so they pulled easily. Now, to figure out the glue... |

Does a homeowner need a permit for electrical work in Massachusetts? I would love to know this answer too. I have heard people say both yes and no. Plumbing is also a question but I have heard a clearer "no" there (it's one thing to burn your house down, but another to get septic into the clean water system and poison the whole town...) |

What are the tools that every Do-it-Yourselfer must own? Multitools are useful because once you're up the ladder/stuck in the crawlspace, there's always that one extra tool you didn't bring with you. Sure, the screwdriver might suck, but at least it's there. |

What do-it-yourself cautionary tales do you have? If he was so darn sure he'd disabled them...why didn't he cut 'em? |
