My wife and I have (unplanned) bought many fixer-upper houses and enjoy restoring them while we live in them with our two kids. Work we do ourselves:

  • Plumbing
  • Electrical
  • Furniture building (fine woodworking)
  • Painting / Refinishing
  • General Construction

Thanks Chris, that makes sense. My worry is longitudal rafter load in the winter, and wind. It sounds like glue will not add any strength.

comment How do I properly seal slate tile?
Shimon: Agreed, the shower has been built with all the usual stuff, yet if the slate is constantly soaked it can't be a good thing.
