My wife and I have (unplanned) bought many fixer-upper houses and enjoy restoring them while we live in them with our two kids. Work we do ourselves:

  • Plumbing
  • Electrical
  • Furniture building (fine woodworking)
  • Painting / Refinishing
  • General Construction

comment Why isn't water running through our radiators?
Air-locks (excessive air in the closed system) can impede water flow. The process for removing air locks is to raise the pressure and bleed the air from the system.

Your baseboard heating system is a closed-loop system that is completely (or should be!) system than your house water. The heating system is driven by a pump, and your home water is driven by municipal city pressure.

comment 6x6 Cedar posts for yard barn, should I glue them?
Thanks Chris, that makes sense. My worry is longitudal rafter load in the winter, and wind. It sounds like glue will not add any strength.

comment Is it worth it to insulate hot water PEX tubing?
Jeremy: That's actually what I wrote. The heat transfer is efficient, not the insulation.
