How can I secure a door with a window right next to it? +1 for the alarm system, make sure the alarm company sign is visible. While I've seen option B more than once, i think I would pass. |

Can I perform a large ceiling drywall repair myself? A lift is great if you're doing more than 3 or 4 pieces. I've tried using a deadman of my own construction and found that a friend on a ladder was more useful. If you're using the friend method the most useful thing you can have is a good screw chuck. |

Is plumber's putty or tape ok? Tape did the trick. We'll see if it holds. I imagine Teflon is pretty non-reactive. |

What is drawback of smaller diameter recessed lights? @gregmac - You are correct, the size of the light shouldn't matter. However, if one size is commonly used (regionally), people may be put off by something that is different. I've seen people pass on a house because of the color of the rooms. Hello people, it's called paint! |

How should I approach red oak crown molding? A good lumber yard will even match a pattern, if you have one you like. |
