Trained in C, familiar with C++ and Java, spent the last 10 or so years mostly in scripting (perl, shell, etc) with a little php/ajax/js on the side. I've been running linux on just about all my systems for over 5 years, and at least partially using it since '95, mostly with Debian and now Ubuntu. Lately I'm getting back into a project using C, maybe Lua, front end with php/ajax/js, and who knows what else.

Outside of the techie stuff, I enjoy photography as a hobby and do a lot of home repair both on my own home and with the local Habitat chapter. For fun, I strap the bare necessities onto my back and enjoy a weekend of backpacking.

comment Why is my Hoover Pet Cyclonic belt not spinning the brush anymore?
Locking because vacuums are considered small appliances that are off topic in the site scope which was defined after this question was asked.

comment How can I replace failing ballasts in recessed CFL housings if I don't have access to the attic?
@SpeedyPetey My comment was that you suggested this answer was completely incorrect without providing an answer of your own. I'm asking what steps you'd take to access that part of the new work box to solve the OP's problem.

comment How can I replace failing ballasts in recessed CFL housings if I don't have access to the attic?
@SpeedyPetey Are you suggesting that the "new work" fixture pictured first does not exist, that they don't/can't sell them, or that there's a way to install them without removing drywall? How should the OP replace their existing fixture if it resembles the first picture without removing the drywall?

I think we're going to need a lot more details, type of furnace (gas, oil, electric, heat pump, etc), and how your problem is different from others that have been reported here before.

Checking to see if this might be more appropriate for Raspberry Pi, hardware compatibility and software problems tend to be out of scope here, but we haven't done a good job defining that just yet.

comment Diagnosing low faucet flow: Single faucet
You don't see any restriction on any of the hose connections, maybe an undersized washer? If it's not there, cartridge, or aerator, then you may be best off looking at a new fixture because the places a restriction can hide are limited.

Did you try removing the aerator?

comment Ceiling cracks appear and worsen over weeks. Self repair or professional?
If that's plaster (likely), those cracks could appear every season and only be hidden by a paint job just before they put the house on the market. If it's drywall, then someone didn't tape their joints.

This question is very difficult to understand, could you rephrase it, and perhaps add some photos of the problem your encountering. When done, flag the post for a mod to reopen. Thanks.

I suspect the answer is silicone caulk, but don't feel certain enough to consider it an answer.
