What is this mysterious odor from the kitchen sink and how do I fix it? The P-trap is designed to keep sewer gases in the sewer. If you are smelling them, somehow the water in the P-trap is being drained away. This opens the path to the smelly gases. |

Can I erect a barrier to keep water out of my garage? Seems like this might work, especially if my only other option is a serious rework of the driveway. |

Tips for removing drywall from bottom of closet header So am I missing the obvious - can you not just cut through the corner bead at each end and remove it? Or will that make it all fall apart? I am not that familiar with drywall finishing. |

Converting from Oil to Gas heat. Any recommendations? So what is the power output of your current boiler, with the appropriate units (BTU?)? |

Can a tub and shower share the same drain? Do you mean a separate tub and shower? My shower is in my tub. |

What would cause my filtered water to have a thin transparent film suspended in it? Yes, the filter is not so much a mesh physical filter as a solid material with lots of surface area that the water flows over, and the organic contaminates prefer the solid and stick to it (thus getting them out of your water). If you continue to use the filter after it is "full", you will eventually begin to wash off the trapped organics, which could result in the film-like behavior you describe. |

How can I efficiently heat a pool? Can't beat this for the cost, but it depends on good sun. If you have a string of cloudy days, you won't get much heat. |

Vanity p-trap installation question I don't know if any building codes apply here, but I can't see any argument from the physics side of things - it should work just as well. |
