How can I remove a musty smell from the basement? To follow up w/ what Shirlock said, In a basement you do need to keep humidity at a minimum since there is typically less air movement. Reccomended values are below 60%. |

refractometer instead of hydrometer for battery testing? Agreed. I recently changed from a hydrometer for testing salinity in my reef tank. Much more accurate - though the hydrometer "says" it is accurate to .001 (instant ocean brand) and I never had any issues with it. I do know that I trust the refractometer more. |

My kitchen has no real walls. Is this going to be a problem? Additional comment: the purpoxe of the sheathing is to keep the house dry - a good read is here inspectapedia.com/BestPractices/Sheathing_Wrap.htm |

My kitchen has no real walls. Is this going to be a problem? Time for bed for me, but I did find these quick: List of contacts in vermont...reedconstructiondata.com/building-codes/vermont and they could certainly answer your question. The energy code is available online here publicservice.vermont.gov/energy-efficiency/ee_files/rbes/… but I haven't run across the fire code yet. If you have better luck tomorrow then I won't look in the evening. If you're still looking though - I'll see what I can dig up. |

refractometer instead of hydrometer for battery testing? Ok. If your hydrometer has an accuracy of .15 you will want to look at a replacement anyway. You may have better luck with a needle or ball type hydrometer than your float hydrometer. |

refractometer instead of hydrometer for battery testing? The float is annoying - I'll abslutely give you that. The cusp of the liquid being large enough to throw off a reading is probably related to the hydrometer used. I do own a refractometer and that's what I use - but like I said ... there is a considerable cost difference. It does depend on just how accurate you need a reading (even in a lead acid battery a difference of .015 won't make a gigantic difference -- the difference between a charged and discharged battery is about .15) |
