How do I stop grout in the corner of a shower from cracking? I like to use a colored sanded caulk in this situaiton. It looks very similar to grout. Sanded caulk comes in various colors. You should be able to get a close match to the grout. |

Should I move the furnace upstairs to help cool the 2nd story? If you live in a warm climate, I would not recommend installing the primary air conditioning unit in an attic space. Attics can get very hot in the summer and this can decrease the efficiency of the unit. I have a second AC unit in my house for the 2nd floor. During the past two summers in Oklahoma (highs over 105 degrees F) it usually runs constantly from around 11 AM until 9PM. |

What can I use as a thread “tightener” compound for a free-running bolt? There are some reusable threadlocking liquids. Here is one I found that may work. I have not used it. Vibra-Tite VC3 Threadmate vibra-tite.com (I am in no way affiliated with the Vibra-Tite Company) |

How do I “un-winterize” my sprinkler system? It is a pressure reducing backflow preventor. From the picture all the bleeder valves are open. They need to be turned 90 degrees to close them. This type of backflow preventer will occassionaly spit water out of the bottom. This is a normal operation and does not mean it is leaking. |

Will 1/4" drywall with 2x4 studs hold a TV wall mount securely? You could also use 3/4 inch plywood as backing material for the TV mount. You just need to ensure the plywaood is secured to the studs. This would give you a lower profile than the 2x4 option. |
