I distinctly do not recall buying a "fixer-upper"... but I seem to have one anyway.

How can I remove tiny dust particles from the air? An observation on the linked video, it's a lot easier to put the filter on the intake side of the fan than the output. Air pressure holds it in place better than tape, especially if you crank it fan speed up to medium. |

How can I remove tiny dust particles from the air? I did this method in an apartment I used to live next to the highway in the summer to deal with the soot and road grime. |

Do I really need a special bulb in the oven? @skaperen: CFLs and LEDs?! They specifically say NOT to use them in high heat environment! |

How do I seal a large gap between slabs to avoid freeze/thaw heaving? Yeah the estimates (see updated Q if you haven't lately) started with retaining walls, it's their engineers that are saying the slab is moving due to freeze/thaw. The retaining walls "won't stop it continuing to migrate away from the house." |

How do I seal a large gap between slabs to avoid freeze/thaw heaving? Yeah, they are both sliding down the hill. The entire back side of the house has settled a couple inches more than the front. (it's on a bluff, so the other side is level thankfully, not down the other side of the hill!) |

How do I seal a large gap between slabs to avoid freeze/thaw heaving? I'm positive it has shifted. When I bought the house it was about 1.5" wide on the North and 2" wide on the south. Today it is about 4.5" wide on the North and 6" on the south. (I should have put a tape measure in the photo for scale.) |
