What benefit do plasterboard/drywall screws have? If you can, drill into a stud. It will prevent a whole bunch of problems with crumbling plaster. |

What material should be used behind a sink and range in the kitchen? Check your local building regulations. According to Australia building regulations, you must have a fire-resistant wall next to your cook top. When we had ours installed, they simply cut out the plaster to a width of a metre behind the cooktop and added the special plaster board. The splashback was then installed over this. |

Securing our roof against possums Solution: we tried various things to get rid of our possum, even trapping and dumping a decent distance away. It came back. Eventually, we just contacted a professional possum removalist and it was dealt within in a hour. He found the hole, blocked it and put a one-way door for the animals (yep, plural) to get out. Cost $400 but at least it is now dealt with. |

What are the pros and cons of UV window film? @ChrisF - presumably they filter both UV and IR. That is just a guess. One product (windowenergysolutions.com.au/why_use_film1.html) claims 80% heat and 99% UV blockage. |

Is 90mm x 45mm a metric 4x2? 90x35 is also available - that would be closer to the 89x38mm you've quoted above. I dare say 90x45 is more useful since it maintains the 2:1 ratio. |
