comment How to remove screws with stripped heads?
Yeah seen this done on an outboard motor where the bolt heads snapped when my friend tried to remove the head due to a blown gasket. Not a screw but the same concept.

comment How to prevent wall-mounted TV above fireplace from getting hot?
That might work. You might want to give the fan some backup power as well, so it could run a while if there was a power cut. Some wood fires get extremely hot. I've already melted a keyboard by sitting it up on the mantle, lighting the fire and forgetting it was sitting on top! oops.

Sounds all very good until it fails. Your TV then melts. I would therefore go with a passive solution.

comment Paint adherence on fiberglass door. Does it need time to 'cure'? Can I top-coat it?
I can honestly say I've had no end of problems with Zinsser products. But that's a different story. I hope you find a suitable paint that holds fast.

comment Are standard light bulb bases being phased out?
@ThreePhaseEel - agreed, actually since I posted that comment 2013, CFL tech hasn't changed much, but LED tech has been booming with many more options flooding the market and they are getting brighter and brighter.

comment Is it dangerous if the ground pin of a 3 prong plug breaks off in the outlet?
Could it be an electrical hazard? it depends. Would you like to plug it in and touch it to find out? didn't think so... I suggest you replace the plug!

You can refinish. But unless you're very competent, it's best to leave that to a pro. It's really east to ruin a floor with a big sanding machine.

comment Electric shock - was I stupid, unlucky, or a combination of both?
I've made this kind of mistake before. Thinking it was disconnected when it wasn't. I had a tingle in my fingers and realised it was very much live! fortunately I was OK. That's why I now treat all wiring like it's always live.

comment My electric oven runs 200C too hot. What can I do?
Sounds like a problem with the thermostat or given that this company seems to make entirely digital ovens the temperature sensor. I think you need to get the oven serviced by a professional.
