I want what everybody wants. A job where I can change the world modestly for the better, that makes me enough money so I can have everything I want and not so much that my kids want to kill me for the inheritance, and that gives me enough fame to stroke my ego yet I can still dine out in peace.

comment How can I shorten barstools temporarily so I can reattach the bottom of the legs?
@Tester101: Yes, replacing the legs would be possible... interesting idea!

I was thinking of non-straight cuts across the legs to add mechanical strength, like a V cut or something...

@Steven: Solid wood (probably a relatively light wood, but solid).

No subpanel. I believe the wire directly connected to the breaker is an appropriate gauge. The garbage disposal and outlets were newly wired into this circuit with a recent kitchen remodel.

comment Would you ever wire white and ground together?
I put in a new 3 prong outlet and wired it "normally". I tested it with a cheap plug-in tester and it shows an "open ground". The house is old - I guess this outlet branches off a 2-conductor line and the ground is dangling on the other side?

Certainly the wire coming into that box has a ground line, but I can't say for certain what it's wired to wherever it goes...
