Carpenter and Contractor delving into web development as a serious hobby.

I love building things with my hands, but I also love the mental challenge of programming. I am mostly interested in online web design & development using HTML/CSS with javascript/jQuery and PHP and really trying to master these things.

I would be interested in studying Python or Ruby on Rails but since web development is a hobby I don't have the time to really consider either.

No, I'm talking smooth shank vs CEE.

I made a video of how the screws with CEE threads fasten two boards together and how when the CEE threads engage the two boards are drawn together (before the head is even flush). There is no other explanation or reason why a CEE-threaded screw would do this vs a non-CEE threaded screw and if you still deny it and say I have to file off the threads you are just being obstinate.

I'll head out to my workshop. Be back in a bit.

I explained in my answer the difference between fastening with and without CEE-threaded screws. With normal screws you have a gap, with CEE threaded screws they are drawn together very tightly before the head is even flush.

As for drawing the two pieces together more tightly. Bogus. You have obviously not had much experience screwing with and without CEE threads. They work very well for this and one of the main reasons I prefer screws with them, it is a HUGE bonus and vastly improves my life.

comment How should I build the concrete footings for my deck?
just to add. in that video you could mistake the screws in that bracket for regular deck screws, but they are likely structural screws (they have torx/star slots). Do not be mistaken and use normal screws in any structural brackets or hardware, ever!

comment How do you keep from dropping grout all over when tiling?
in my opinion it is really just practice and keeping aware of what you're doing and how much grout you are working with at once.

comment Is it safe to cut throught a 70mm spruce beam with a Metabo jigsaw?
justified but shouldn't really be "fears" as if it were something scary. it is not like something will explode. I have jigsaw blades break plenty of times. as for burning the motor, that's also a possibility. since it is thick and wet your blade will get gummed up and have a tough time going through the wood. it is likely the blade will heat up and snap before you damage the tool though.

comment What type of nail gun is recommended?
Paslode are the best in my opinion and hardly worth considering the others. cordless are slower, but really good for small/short jobs where not setting up a compressor and hoses saves a lot of time.
