comment How to fix bed slats?
I like the swap out option you've described. They can also put a few more slats in, to increase the weight bearing capacity.

comment My new drywall patch is thinner than the old one? Why?
@craig While premix is frequently used to embed tape, its very inferior to using a setting (hot) joint compound as the first, embedding coat. After that, premix is an easier sand for subsequent coats

comment My new drywall patch is thinner than the old one? Why?
@user148298 if the difference is 1/4 inch or under, tape then mud. If greater, level it out with hot mud, then tape. I prefer the open mesh fiberglass tape for this.

comment Switching 3-phase power between two appliances using a 3-phase switch
I voted down what seemed to be a spurious guess, rather than facts from the NEC or IRC code books. The fact that a licensed electrician said it WASN'T permitted means you should cite a reference that ALLOWS it.

comment Can I use a CFL or LED bulb with a higher lumen output as long as I stay under the maximum wattage listed on the fixture?
Frequently, cfls and leds need the newer dimmers, otherwise low dimmer settings result. Again, not dangerous, just annoying to have to replace both.

comment Where should I connect the C wire in my furnace, trying to upgrade my thremostat?
As the chassis is also connected to equipment ground, would a connection to a close plug be valid? (Assuming a continuous path from plug ground to breaker box to furnace). Just wondering as my basement ceiling is finished and its not easy to route the c wire.
