comment How should I rewire this situation?
I'd probably go by the duct. It seems like the easiest and requires no additional holes. -I was just being over cautious with the EMT just to be sure, but I doubt it's necessary. Any adjustments due to ambi temp would not likely apply because the adjustments are applied to the wire's ampacity. 14 awg is 20 A, but it's limited to a 15 amp breaker; generally speaking. So before it could cause an issue on a typical resi recept it'd have to have a .75 correction factor. And that's if the circuit was maxed out. -I concur with maple's view on the contact issue.

comment How should I insulate behind the last floor joist that runs parallel to the foundation wall?
I'd imagine foam. Cramming R in there is pointless. I imagine the only concern would be over foaming and creating pressure on the joist from the foam expansion.

Do you have access to the wire in the basement. The only issue with the vent would be in the winter due to higher ambient temperatures (probably not though). Could you squeeze a 1/2" piece of EMT to sleeve it with?

@maple_shaft - he said there used to be a drop in ceiling so it was hidden.

comment Why won't my washer machine motor, gearbox, or inside basket free spin
The entire cycle finished as expected. The behavior I was talking about stopped. It did break but much smoother. It was like the difference between stopping as quick as possible and slamming on the breaks. That's why I was concerned about the motor and coupling. I can only guess the break is based on the speed of the basket?

You know I never thought about the brake. For some reason I have a faint memory of the basket continuing to spin after opening the lid but perhaps I was wrong. I just tried it again and possibly what is the issue is I have the wet load in it still and that extra weight is making it seem "jerky"? Based on your opinion I tested agitation and it's fine. I'm starting the load to see what happens. Hopefully I'll get back to you with a check mark shortly! Thanks!

comment Are four gang plastic boxes stackable in a wall?
Boxes can be stacked so to speak without violating code (NEC). It should be noted though that stacking, or aligning, a switch box won't work unless you have a high dollar custom switch plate. The box is not as large as the switch plate so if you put any two boxes side by side, unless it is a metal cut in box designed to do so, you'll have collision issues. Even if you used a metal cut in you'd still end up with a single box ganged to the size you determine.

comment How do I wire a receptacle and a light switch?
Of course, before doing any electrical work, turn the power off!
