comment Do I need to do anything to protect my pool during a rare freeze?
@MagRoader Yikes, it's not normal. You do NOT empty in-ground pools in Central Florida unless you are a professional who knows what they are doing. Without the proper relief valves in place, the hydrostatic pressure underneath the pool can actually lift the pool out of the ground, and you'll find it floating across your backyard during the next rainstorm. Don't do that.

comment Is this a load-bearing wall between my house's entrance and dining room?
@David That's a great question, and you should ask it as such. Better than trying to hash it out in a comment discussion here. Thanks.

Fathimat, Can you clarify that in the original question? That seems quite important.

comment What precautions should I take before moving my family into a pre-1978 (lead-paint-era) house?
Your information is not correct. Certified professionals can inspect and determine the actual level risk, but the premise that lead paint is okay as long as you are not sitting around munching on the walls is simply incorrect. And saying that remediation is just a matter of "scraping the flaking area" is nothing short of dangerous: epa.gov/lead/pubs/leadinfo.htm#hazard. Doubly so where children are involved.

@XOPJ: Don't forget the lighting-type suggested in the smaller, upper photo, then.
