comment Drill tool unable to work when face up
If you face the drill up, but pull forward on the chuck, does the drill run?

comment Why does my hot cooktop indicator light stay on too long?
@Tester101 - Is it also possible or probable that the temperature light is designed to stay on for a long time as a safety measure? Would these sensors measure the absolute temperature or would they measure the temperature relative to some room-temperature component of the stove?

What make and model? How are you measuring "cool" by hand or with a thermometer?

@Steven - I made an edit to that effect. I think this question stands on its own. Perhaps it is even more general. How does one go about building or buying something other than a rectangular glass shower enclosure? Is it custom or are there some off-the-shelf options?

comment Why does the cold water pipe rattle when my washing machine is set to hot?
Installed a small water hammer arrestor right on the input of the washing machine. Solved the problem right away. Thanks @Bryan Focht

comment How can I install a vanity over this unfortunate plumbing?
This seems to be a great answer. It reduces the work from modifying the vanity to just one hole drilled out for the drain and it reduces the plumbing work to making two cuts and adding two couplers. The only objection I can raise is that its another non-standard job whereas relocating the plumbing to the wall makes it right.

$10 from Amazon. The part is on its way. It sounds like this is a very common problem, thank you for helping me learn about it!

I'm familiar with water hammering in the context of having the mains off for a while then turning them back on without a few taps open. Would my washing machine be water hammering because it has an internal valve that is cycling? If I run the washing machine on hot (not warm, full hot) why would it do anything with the cold side?

comment What is a reasonably economical way to heat a basement bathroom?
@Ecnerwal is correct. I do not know the term, but a timer that lets you tell the heater "turn on at 9 AM and off at 4PM" is what I had in mind.
