2nd floor bathroom, tub is on the subfloor. It leaks onto the bathroom floor and on occasion down into my kitchen cabinets.

How do I watch for the leak? If it was leaking from a visible location (like overspray from the showerhead) I would see wet spots from that. I suspect that the leak is someplace I can't see, for example if its getting behind the faucet, under the tub, then onto the floor.

Any chance you can post a pic of the final result? I admire someone who can use un-named American discount tool store and achieve good results. :D

Upvoted for conduit or a channel. This future proofs your A/V setup for the next hot gaming system and makes it easier to replace the current devices/accessories when they break.

Also does your new chime continue to ring or does it get stuck on and buzz if your switch gets stuck on? In other words will it fail or just keep ringing if the switch sticks?

Are you sure you're fixing a problem that actually exists? If you mind the switch (maybe check it once a year?) and replace it if it shows the least bit of wear you shouldn't have this problem again. Also how old was the old switch and chime and transformers?
