How can plywood edges be finished to conceal the plies? You will want to predrill for screws. There are also specialty screws designed specifically for MDF if you want to go down that road. Moisture should not be an issue so long as you have a couple of coats of paint. |

What is the best way to seal my deck? This is solid advice for a typical pressure treated lumber deck. It appears this particular question is referring to a hardwood deck, which would likely require altering these instructions (e.g. non-oxygen based stripper, stain choices, etc.) |

Vinyl tile installation over a concrete basement floor with moisture When I looked into it a while ago, it seemed like there were many complaints about mold growth on Dricore. Something to look into if you are considering it. |

Dado (+glue) or just screws (+glue) for painted MDF bookcase You also have to be concerned about the MDF splitting when you are screwing into the edge. |

Dado (+glue) or just screws (+glue) for painted MDF bookcase Thinking about it, the statement about the strength advantage is probably not entirely accurate for MDF. Edge screwing into plywood or solid wood provides poor "pull-apart" strength. For MDF, there is really not a significant difference in this number. However, the pocket joint will still be advantageous in this case. The screw head will not "mushroom" the edge around the countersink, and the pocket screws tend to pull a joint tight without extra clamping. |

Is it safe to drill small holes in load-bearing concrete beams for expansion bolts? If the beam is metal, then you could try some large neodymium magnets (e.g. amazon.com/Applied-Magnets-Strong-Neodymium-Magnet/dp/…) |

What could cause smelly water in the bathroom sink only? It could also be an AAV failure. Was this bathroom added as part of a remodel? |
