Home Improvement Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for contractors and serious DIYers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I'm preparing to replace all of the door knobs, hinges, etc in my home to a more modern style. Since this means I'll be purchasing a couple dozen it seems that I could save some money if I bought an entire box / contractor pack instead of paying the individual prices at a big box store.

Can anyone recommend a good outlet for this sort of purchase?

We like the look of a specific Schlage knob that we used on one door with a broken handle, but are open to going with a different vendor if the pricing is considerably better.

Home Depot offers a 4 pack of interior knobs for ~$30.00. – Tester101 Oct 19 '11 at 15:02

You could contact Schlage Builder Customer Service Department and find out how many knobs you'd have to buy for a discount. – Tester101 Oct 19 '11 at 15:06
Allot of EBAY stores offer wholesale prices- as somebody at the wholesaler is selling these items at small profits. – ppumkin Oct 19 '11 at 15:39

If the answers concentrate on the types of places where you can get stuff wholesale then this would be OK. Any answer for a specific store will be too localised. – ChrisF Oct 19 '11 at 15:49
Maybe not wholesale, but smaller (not even necessarily independent) hardware stores might be willing to cut you a break. They might even be willing to special order something if it's not something they normally carry, as they wouldn't have to worry about unsold stock sitting on the shelves. – Joe Oct 19 '11 at 19:09
