I've read lots of posters, and found an answer, but need more information. I have a table and chairs bought at seconds Habersham furniture store in mid 1980s. They get horribly sticky in summer humidity and paper sticks to the top and the only removal is with a wet sponge and scrubbing. I believe the problem is the finish as I tried denatured alcohol which worked exactly like the post said. So, when do I know all the shellac is off? And what type of finish should I put on?
