I'm removing and re-caulking the windows. The house has sand colored bricks and removing the old caulk left unsightly black/grey residue. Any tips on cleaning the brick? I tried isopropyl alcohol and it didn't do anything.

If it is near the window that you are going to re-caulk, care will be needed on using anything that will remove it. Heat gun is one way to remove the bulk of it. I understand the pros use caustic soda to remove things like paint and caulk. I don't think that stuff is DIY material. These are only suggestions to check further into, since I don't know if it would be an accurate answer.... –  Jack Jul 2 '14 at 23:29
