I would like to clad my grog/chamotte brick-built fireplace shell with natural stone. I expect to cover bricks using flexible adhesive grout. But in order to compensate for temperature differences in grog/chamotte expansion I would like to put some reinforcement in this adhesive grout before fixing stone on the top.

What reinforcement would be best for this kind of structure that withstands temperature breathing of the shell so stone won't start to come off?
