i have installed a light/fan combo in the bathroom to the light switch,i also installed a dual switch next to the toilet so i could turn the light or fan on individually. it all works ,however if the light switch is off by the door then my dual switch by the toilet doesnt work. I want to be able to turn the fan /light combo on while leaving the vanity light switch off. I have it hooked up now but with the light switch off my dual switch has no power.

It sounds like you had three way switches by the door and toilet and you have replaced one of them with a pair of single pole switches. There are a number of wiring possibilites. Can you show us a picture of each of the switch boxes as currently installed? – bib Mar 31 '14 at 15:00
I can get pics after work. I didn't replace any I only added a dual switch to the existing bathroom light switch circuit. – stuck one Mar 31 '14 at 19:40
