We have a Honeywell wireless thermostat and central heating controller. It is set to maintain a temperature at 21c between 8 and 10, and then between 4 and 10. In the other periods, it is set to maintain 5c. Strangely the heating comes on intermittently during the 5c periods when the temperature is way above this. The thermostat seems to read correct temperatures. Any ideas ? Its a combi boiler, so nothing to do with hot water

"Its a combi boiler, so nothing to do with hot water" isn't "combi" short for "combination", as in, one boiler for both heat and hot water? – Tester101 Mar 27 '14 at 17:30
Is it possible that the boiler itself has a minimum temperature setting? Meaning that if the temp drops too low, the boiler cycles to maintain a safe temperature. Including the make and model of thermostat and boiler would be helpful in determining what features each has. – Tester101 Mar 27 '14 at 17:32
