I have a gas burner and baseboard heat. there is only one thermostat. there are 2 pipes going out of the burner, 1 for the first floor, 1 for the second floor both are hot, but we are getting no heat on the second floor and heat on the first floor . the house used to have 3 heating zones,3 thermostats but was modified 5 years ago because the owner couldn't afford to fix it properly. the system the way it is has been working for the 3 years I have been here until last week. can you give me some advice what to do

If there are two pipes coming out of the furnace, there should be two pumps along with it. But if that's the case, then you should have two thermostats--one to control each pump.
If you do have two pumps, but one thermostat, some theories:
Hopefully it's just a bad pump. That can be fixed yourself for a few hundred dollars.
