We live in Austin and are putting in a livestock fence with stretched woven wire and barb wire top and bottom with t-posts between corner braces, plus 300' of sold privacy fence in the front needing posts every 8'. We have dug several corner posts 30" down for h-braces into very, very rocky soil, which is back breaking. We have many more to go, but prefer to dig them than rent a bobcat auger for a variety of reasons.

We wondered if going down the more easily dug 18" and then drilling or driving rebar to get to 30-36" would be adequate if we drill a hole into the bottom of the post to set onto the rebar?
