Please note, this is not a how to question, but rather a design question more from aesthetic point of view.
There is some damaged drywall in my basement. I plan on replacing it, however, I am thinking, maybe this is good opportunity to improve the look and value of my home by maybe adding some contrast.
It is a small (about 6ft to 10ft wide) wall that you see as you are walking down the stairs to the basement. I am thinking about replacing the damaged drywall with cement board and either tiles or small river stones. But I am not sure if this type of thing belongs in a basement.
Is this a good idea? Or should I just stick to drywall and paint?
