Is there an existing thermostat? There's not much standardization of the colors used, so you need to explicitly check them: if no existing working thermostat, check what they're connected to inside the furnace on the control board. Once you figure it out, it's a very good idea to label the wires at your thermostat to avoid any future confusion. The most common terminals/colors:
